Dry Bulk Transshipment and Cargo Handling
LD Armateurs leverages decades of expertise in transshipment and cargo handling to provide innovative, reliable, and environmentally friendly solutions for dry bulk commodities worldwide.
What and why Dry Bulk Transshipment? Dry bulk cargo trades have changed, in terms of market requirements, for different commodity types. Seaborne transportation has more than doubled during the last 25 years and has become bigger and bigger in terms of shipments sizes. This has required exporters and importers to adapt their operations and develop solutions that can make the supply of raw resources viable from an economic perspective. The main dry bulk cargoes are today mostly transported in large-sized bulk carriers, like Capesizes and Newcastlemaxes, which sizes and draughts do not, in many cases, cannot be accommodated at the ports where exporters and importers operate. These are typical scenarios where dry bulk transshipment is needed. Our strength lies in designing and operating customized and complex offshore Dry Bulk Transshipment systems, including Floating Transfer Stations (FTS),Floating Crane Transhipper Units (FCTU) and Deck Cargo Ships (DCS) which allows exporters and importers to utilize larger dry bulk vessels, even with limited port infrastructures:
- Floating Transfer Stations are designed for high-speed, efficient cargo handling with environmental safeguards such as enclosed conveyors and rainwater recovery systems. They may offer flexible storage capacity and cargo blending options.
- Floating Crane Transhipper Units provide advanced offshore loading and unloading with high transshipment rates, optimized crane operations, and reduced maintenance thanks to electric power systems and simplified mechanics. They ensure safe operations even in challenging sea conditions and feature anti-pollution devices to minimize dust emissions.
- Deck Cargo Ships are self-propelled barges designed with enhanced cargo capacity at limited draft. These self-propelled barges are adapted to the conditions of combined sea and river navigation and can sail at much faster speed than traditional sets of tug and barge.
LD Armateurs has been also operating a fleet of tugs and barges, ensuring efficient maritime transport with a focus on safety, environmental protection, and operational excellence.
