Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) has been developing a liquid hydrogen SOV concept, in collaboration with Salt Ship Design

Together with Salt Ship Design teams, and in relation with key stakeholders (main equipment suppliers, class and flag authorities, fuel providers, among others), Louis Dreyfus Armateurs has been developing a full liquid hydrogen-based SOV design. This industry milestone is joining the H2-revolution as supported by the European Commission (1.).

The liquid-H2 SOV, currently in the concept design phase, will be able to operate 95% of the time with zero carbon emission, with vessel only releasing water during standard operations. This would have a huge positive impact on offshore windfarm operations-related emissions, by preventing the release of about 4.000t of CO2 per year.

The vessel will display best-in-class CSOV operability footprint, up to 90 technicians onboard, together with 14-days endurance at sea without requiring additional offshore facility, nor heavy port infrastructure.

At LDA, our constant ambition is to lead the maritime industry through its energy transition, providing innovative maritime solutions to our customers. We believe that H2 as fuel is one of the key enablers for reducing the impact of shipping industry in the coming years and help reaching the challenging carbon emission targets for the whole industry.

Let’s sail for the next generation!
