Activity: Installation & Maintenance of Submarine Telecommunication Cables
Context
Based on rotations on board cable ships, the Surveyor’s function is to actively participate in the installation/repair of submarine cables as well as in the follow-up and production of the associated documentation. He/she works within a group, generally supervised by a team leader.
Working hours: 8am and 12pm during operations.
Embarkation period of 9 +/-2 weeks. 26 days of paid leave per month of shipment.
Type of contract: CDI/ ENIM regime
Missions
As the entry point for all strategic sensors related to the installation of the cable, he/she records, processes and validates all data.
He/she is responsible for the proper functioning of all positioning devices.
He/she participates in the installation, calibration and monitoring of sensors related to the survey department.
He is in permanent contact with all other operational departments and actively participates in the elaboration of the daily activity report.
He controls the ship’s course and speed during operations.
He/she pilots the machines dedicated to cable laying via the Makailay software (internal training planned).
He has a coordination role during operations with underwater machines.
He/she is responsible for pre- and post-operational documentation.
Profile
Qualifications required: Minimum of 2 years of higher education (diploma or recognised equivalent).
Area of expertise required: Hydrography, Navigation, Positioning (GPS/USBL), Computers, Cartography, GIS.
Languages: Fluency in English is imperative.
Qualities required: Rigour and autonomy.
