LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS and NEOEN join in the offshore wind energy

Within the French framework of the « Grenelle de l’Environnement » and the objectives set by France in the offshore wind energy sector – producing 23 % of the national energy consumption from renewable sources, and installing 6.000 megawatts of offshore wind power by 2020 - LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS and NEOEN have decided to associate their know-how and link their strengths to make the offshore wind projects succeed in France.

This strategic partnership leans on the complementary strengths of both French groups:

 - NEOEN, subsidiary of the French group DIRECT ENERGIE, has been actively positioned since 2007 in the development of offshore wind projects on three big French maritime shore line. They have also invested for three years, in technical and environmental expertise aiming to identify the most suited sites for setting-up of offshore wind farms in France;

- The LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS group has developed for several years strong skills in strategic industrial sectors which now allow it to position as a ship-owner able to take up the challenge of the offshore wind energy (harbour logistics, offshore handling, development and fitting out of specialized ships, installation and maintenance of submarine cables).

The group will also bring its maritime expertise via its subsidiary LD TRAVOCEAN, based in Marseilles (France), and specialized in the maritime works, in particular in the burial operations, laying of cables and/or survey of cable routes.

"The maritime wind energy represents a rare opportunity for the LDA group to position on a completely new industrial sector in France. The strategic partnership with NEOEN represents a real added value by allowing the union of our complementary know-how, to make large-scale realistic projects succeed that our industry and our harbours need ", underlined by the head management of the LDA group.

France, at instigation from the French Ministry of Ecology and Jean-Louis BORLOO, presented last May 5th  2010, a speeding up plan in offshore wind energy, planning in particular the launch of several calls for tenders starting next September. The call for tenders will concern the setting-up of farms of 3.000 megawatts total power with a selection of the projects planned for the third quarter of 2011.

About NEOEN:
NEOEN conceives, finances, builds and exploits centres of electricity production stemming from renewable energies. NEOEN places its skills and its expertise in the service of communities and companies, by accompanying them in the implementation of solutions producing a long-lasting energy. Neoen also contributes in a positive way to their development, in particular, by supporting the local employment (construction, maintenance, etc.).

On the horizon of 2020, NEOEN wish to contribute for a partially significant part in the achievement of the objectives fixed by France, by producing 23 % of the energy stemming from renewable sectors. A first step will consist in being part of the first five producers before 2014, with a capacity settled by 800 MW, corresponding to an annual power production of 2 TWh, i.e. the equivalent of the consumption of a million homes.

Created in 2008, NEOEN is structured around 4 sectors (solar energy, wind energy, biomass and marine wind energy). Shareholders are DIRECT ENERGIE group, LOUIS DREYFUS group and CREDIT AGRICOLE PRIVATE EQUITY.
NEOEN has offices and subsidiaries in France (Montpelier, Toulouse and Rennes) and headquarters is based in Paris.
