LDA invests in India
Paris, July 24, 2009 – LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS Group today announced having formed a joint venture with ABG INFRALOGISTICS an important Indian company listed in Mumbai, and specialised in port logistics operations.
This joint venture, ABG LDA BULK HANDING (ABG LDA), aims at becoming a leader in port logistics operations of bulk cargoes (ores, coals, cement fertilizers,…) in India, where imports and exports of dry bulk commodities are rapidly growing. ABG LDA now operates in 4 major ports (Visakhapatnam, Mangalore, Paradip and Haldia – Calcutta) over 5 quays. The Indian government intends to launch tenders for other Indian ports in the coming months. ABG LDA wants to play a major role in this privatization process.
The LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS Group already operates 5 floating cranes in Colombia (handled 12 million tons of coal handled in 2008), 2 in Indonesia (for a total of 8.5 million tons of coal handled in 2008) and in 1 India (in Goa, 3 million tons of iron ore handled in 2008). Last, LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS has formed in 2008 a partnership with the Chamber of Commerce of Cherbourg aimed at creating an offshore bulk transshipment operation, using floating cranes, barges and tugs. The environmental impact audit phase has been started.
ABG INFRALOGISTICS started as a crane rental business in 1983 and has rapidly expanded to become one of India’s foremost infrastructure solution provider. ABG INFRALOGISTICS is owning and operating cranes up to 1,250 MT capacity.
