City of Hamburg delivered in Singapore
Singapore, December 4th, 2008 - The roro vessel "City of Hamburg" ordered at Singapore Technologies Marine shipyard (ST Marine) was delivered today to its managers LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS S.A.S. and LEIF HOEGH A.S.A. of Norway, in Singapore at 20:30 local time (13:30 Paris time).
Five months after being named in Singapore at STM shipyard on 11th June, 2008 by Mrs Valérie Pécresse, French Minister for Higher education and Research, the "City of Hamburg" is the first roro vessel delivered by ST Marine to LDA - LHC partnership.
A second roro vessel, her sistership "Ciudad de Cadiz" is due to be delivered by STM in Singapore during first quarter of 2009. Both vessels will sail under the French flag.
For the second time after delivery of "Ville de Bordeaux" in 2004, Airbus charters a LDA/LHC roro vessel for the sea transportation of the A380 aircrafts components. These components are collected across Europe from the various Airbus manufacturing plants:
- Center and aft parts of the fuselage: in Hamburg (Germany)
- Wings : in Mostyn (Wales)
- Tail : in Cadiz (Spain)
- Cockpit : in St Nazaire (France)
Louis Dreyfus Armateurs is proud of this first major stride in its partnership with ST Marine which will be reinforced by the delivery of "Ciudad de Cadiz"' next year and the delivery of a Ropax vessel in 2010 ordered by its subsidiary LD Lines.
