City of Hamburg launching ceremony

The City of Hamburg, first of two RoRo vessels ordered by LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS S.A.S. (LDA) associated to LEIF HOEGH A.S.A. of Norway at SINGAPORE TECHNOLOGIES MARINE shipyard, has been launched today, 23rd February.

The vessel is due to be delivered in third quarter 2008. Her sistership, the Ciudad de Cadiz, will be delivered early 2009. The two vessels will be flagged under  the French International Registry and registered in Marseille.

These two ships will be chartered by AIRBUS for the transportation of the A380 aircraft oversized components.

LDA praises this new step in its relationship with AIRBUS INDUSTRIES, relationship which started five years ago and materialized with the delivery of the VILLE DE BORDEAUX. It is obvious that the experience and the know-how of LDA's teams have been instrumental in the development of an innovative maritime solution inside AIRBUS global logistics.

It evidences how competitive, efficient and flexible the maritime transport can be. And it confirms AIRBUS' faith and support in this credible alternative to road transport, contributing to reduce the dependence on ground transportation systems. LDA is very proud to offer such services to its customers.
