Mr Philippe Louis-Dreyfus has been today elected as President of the European Community Shipowner's Association (ECSA), for the coming two years.
This is an international recognition of the role that Philippe Louis-Dreyfus plays as President of Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, one of the most praised European shipowners, as well as a well-listened upholder of the shipping cause.
Philippe Louis-Dreyfus has most of his professional life been involved in the shipping business. For some time as a banker, then as a shipowner. He was also President of the French Shipowner's Association and held other various positions in international shipping and business associations. Shipping offers the values Mr Louis-Dreyfus was happy to share as a recognised sportsman : fair competition, team work, loyalty,…
Philippe Louis-Dreyfus will defend European shipping interests with
energy and passion. Philippe Louis-Dreyfus is proud to succeed Mr Lennart
Simonsson and thanks him for all the tasks he has fulfilled for the benefit of
the European shipping community.

Community Shipowner's Association
ECSA today regroups the national shipowners associations of 24 EU countries, and includes Norway. Its aim is to promote European Shipping with the EU institutions in all matters of shipping policy and ship operations, and that it will encourage high standards of operation and the provision of high quality and efficient shipping services. ECSA also strives for an EU regulatory regime that supports safe shipping operations and the protection of the environment whilst recognising it’s international dimension and the roles played by IMO and ILO. Last, it raises the profile of shipping within EU Institutions in recognition of its economic and social contribution to Europe.
