Secratary of States visits vessel
Paris, June 16, 2004 – LDA is honored to welcome onboard its cable vessel "Ile
de Sein", Mr François Goulard, French Secretary of State for Transports
and Sea. This visit was organised by French authorities to ascertain the implementation
of the ISPS (International Ships and Ports facilities Safety) Code.
The "Ile de Sein" is specialised in submarine cable-laying, and jointly
owned by Alcatel and LDA under French flag. She was delivered in 2001 with two
other sisterships : "Ile de Bréhat" and "Ile de Batz".
This is the "Ile de Batz" which successfully operated the robot in
the recovering of the two black boxes from the Flash Airlines disaster near
Sharm El-Sheikh in january this year (see previous Press Release dated Jan.
18 2004).
The choice of Mr Goulard to visit a vessel from Louis Dreyfus Armateurs is the
evidence of a double acknowledgement :
- Acknowledgement of the exemplary quality of french vessels and of the competence
of the french officers and seamen.
- Acknowledgement of the quality and of the excellent reputation of Louis Dreyfus
shipowning division, and more precisely of the admirable preparation work achieved
by LDA's teams in regard as to the implementation of the ISPS Code.
LDA wish to thank all French administrations for their full cooperation in implementing
the ISPS Code and is then happy to announce that all ships under its management
will be ISPS compliant on time.
