LD BULK

LD BULK (formerly named CETRAGPA) is a full-fledged subsidiary of the LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS Group. CETRAGPA was created in 1972 and originates from the coming together of two pools of French ship-owners: Agpa on one side – property of Compagnie Générale Transatlantique and the Worms Group –, and Cetramar on the other side, comprising of the LOUIS DREYFUS Group, Rothschild, Chargeurs Réunis and Union Navale. Being the only one left after the 1985 crisis, the LOUIS DREYFUS Group took over CETRAGPA in 1987. This take-over took place at a time when the group was shifting its activities towards coal and iron ore transportation – with consuming countries always further away from extraction sites, to the detriment of cereal transportation which represented its major activity until then.

In all sizes and in the past decades, LD BULK has consolidated its reputation of a reliable, flexible, creative and yet competitive long term partner. Many leading companies in their respective fields, whether steel producers (Arcelor Mittal, Nippon Steel), mining groups (Glencore, Rio Tinto), energy producers (EDFGT, Prony Energies), or others (Cargill, Goldman Sachs) all recognised LD BULK’s experience as well as the company’s capacity to address the specific demands of various industries by proposing long term chartering contracts.

Today LD BULK manages a modern fleet of about 30 ships from 20 000 to 180 000 dwt, and ranging from state of the art, craned and grab fitted Handysize ships to the most recent Capesize, Supramax and Panamax. The broad diversity of services offered to its clients enables the company to meet the various demands of major industries using bulk.

More recently, a new generation of bulk carriers (deliveries occured between 2013 and 2015) comes to reinforce the fleet managed by LD BULK. These new vessels (Capesize and Handysize)  have innovative technical features to reduce CO2 emissions. Four Handysize have been ordered by LDA ROULLIER (a joint-venture between LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS and ROULLIER groups). The next four have been ordered by LDAP, a joint-venture between LDA, FFP and Bank Pâris Bertrand Sturdza.

Thanks to its fleet and with over 15 million tons of bulk (essentially coal, iron ore and concentrates) transported each year, LD BULK is one of the industry’s leaders.
